Boys & Girls Clubs of the Ocoee Region - Jacobs Unit

If I could rate this club more than five stars I would! As someone who has worked in the childcare industry for years, I know first hand how facilities and care takers can range from very poor all the way to extremely exceptional. More importantly, as a MOTHER, I have had strong feelings against placing my child in childcare because of my years in the industry. HOWEVER, that is not my opinion when it comes to the Boys and Girls Club Jacobs Unit. There is no other group of staff or facility I would trust more with the care of my child than the staff at the Jacobs Unit. In particular, the director, Ms. Elizabeth Taylor has always shown such love and dedication when it comes to every child under her care. In my experience with Ms. Taylor it has become very clear to me that this is not her job, but it is her career and her passion. If we had more caretakers like her the childcare industry would be a much safer place for our children. My daughter absolutely adores Ms. Taylor and she is always so excited when she gets to see her. I am beyond thankful to have somewhere I can take my child where I know she will be given the best love, care, and attention.

I must share how much my kids and I LOVE the Jacobs unit!! My daughters have been going here since they were in kindergarten, and I trust and love (Elizabeth Taylor) She makes sure not only my kids, but ALL kids are safe in her hands and cares for everyone’s needs. Elizabeth has a great support system, she helps every child with their homework/Studies and very involved. She has a great environment at this unit. And I am thankful for her!

I have had the pleasure of knowing Ms. Elizabeth Taylor for many years and can confidently speak to her honesty, integrity, and deep compassion. Her genuine love for the children in the Boys and Girls Clubs is evident—not only in the way she speaks about them with such care and affection, but also in the dedication she brings to her work. Over the years, I’ve witnessed the time, energy, and personal resources she invests to ensure every child has a positive and enriching experience. I’ve also seen firsthand how the children respond to her—with trust, joy, and admiration. For Ms. Taylor, this work is far more than a job; it is her calling. Every parent would be fortunate to have someone like her involved in their child’s life.

This is by far the best after school program here in the area. My daughter was going to another unit in the area and due to a very sensitive matter that I will leave private; we decided it was best for my child to transfer to another unit. In doing so we met Ms. Elizabeth, the unit director. Ms. Elizabeth understood the gravity and seriousness of the situation and the privacy needed. She understood that my child had endured quite a lot as well as myself as a parent and understood the concerns I had and apprehensions. When my child was having a hard time expressing herself emotionally or feeling sad; Ms Elizabeth and staff without hesitation have catered directly to her needs. We’ve had a few incidents with kids and bullying or rough housing and each and every time Ms Elizabeth and her staff have handled it appropriately and with promptness unlike anything I’ve seen. Something else I’ve noticed is her ability to foster a safe and trauma informed working environment. This Director has been my daughter director now for 3 years. We have gone so far as to follow her into her transition to Jacob’s unit because of how amazing she is with my child and the other littles as well. I’ve witnessed her unwavering commitment to foster a positive environment showing the same level of care, attentiveness, compassion, and gentle correction she has shown my child with every other student. I cannot recommend this unit enough!

I want to take a moment to speak truthfully about someone who has made an incredible impact on so many children’s lives. Elizabeth Taylor is a truly remarkable woman and an exceptional leader at the Boys &,Girls Club, Jacob’s unit. She is the very definition of care, compassion, patience, and integrity. Children absolutely adore her, and it’s easy to see why. She brings warmth, understanding, and genuine love into every room she walks into. She goes far beyond what is expected, always putting the children and her team first. Her dedication and sacrifices do not go unnoticed—she gives so much of herself to this place and the people in it. Other employees respect and appreciate her deeply because she leads with fairness, grace, and strength. I personally would trust her with my life—and I don't say that lightly. She is capable, generous, and grounded in a deep sense of responsibility and care. It’s upsetting to see false and hurtful accusations being made about someone so good. The lies being spread do not reflect the truth of who she is. Elizabeth deserves recognition for the incredible heart and hard work she brings every single day—not slander. This center is lucky to have her!
