I had 2 emergencies 6 months apart, which caused me so much financial strain that I needed help paying rent BOTH times I paid a portion of the amount I needed and asked CCAC for help. The first time there was a death of my uncle Dennis and his legal wife had insurance on him but decided not to use it to pay his burial costs, at that time CCAC paid $400 for me and I paid about $200 for myself. The second time I needed $1290 give or take but I paid $710 myself and asked CCAC for help with the balance to avoid eviction. I was told they couldn’t help bc they helped me 6 months prior in April, which is true, however I DIDN’T KNOW THAT EMERGENCIES HAD SCHEDULES! I work 5 days a week from 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. I’m trying my very best to only utilize help when I absolutely have no where else to go. Yet I’ve watched Drug addicts and alcoholics and people who just refuse to to do better get help every time CCAC get help several times a year! I’m so hurt and disappointed in CCAC. I even offered to pay them back if they would help me. Smh SEEMS TO ME THAT THE GOAL SHOULD BE TO HELP PPL WHEN NEEDED NOT BASED OFF OF THEIR PAST EMERGENCIES!!!

Help with paying electric bills ( much higher than usual electric bills) Ccac help is.so essential in order for us to be able to purchase food and basic household items needed with our very limited funds for ourselves and our pet(s) and their neccessary care items. Our pets are as important to our well-being as any other necessities or more so for many of us. Any emergency that arises takes food and basics off the list
I haven't driven in years and it's a very real burden for myself and for family to make time to bring me to give the proof of income, id, etc.,(the info they require.)
They could certainly get the info they require via email as was certainly done during Covid.. IF THEY HAD A working email address. Then there's the matter of not having the exact info they require but they don't have a copier to print out the info from online. So how can a public service organization be expected to function effectively for folks that have very limited means,( little to no money, disabled with limited transportation and limited ways, if any, to get there.
Please petition for the funds you need to make it less of a burdensome and sometimes it's impossible to get there to the Ccac location to apply for the very needed and appreciated essential assistance.
Please allow required info to be emailed

a heart burdened by shattered promises and the weight of vulnerability. When you approached me, a lone soul in this unfamiliar city, your assurances felt like a lifeline. You promised to pay my utilities, to ease my burden during a time of grief. But what transpired was a cruel twist of fate.
The Void Left by Loss: My mother had just departed, leaving an emptiness that echoed through my existence. In this foreign land, I had no family to lean on, no familiar faces to share my sorrow. CAC, you stepped in, offering hope—a beacon in my darkness.
The Broken Assurance: You assured me—kindly, earnestly—that my utilities would be covered. A glimmer of relief flickered within me. But alas, it was short-lived. The funds flowed, then receded like a cruel tide. Three times, I tried to secure stability, only to watch the promise slip away.
Desperation on Hold: Picture me—a desperate soul—clinging to the phone line, my voice rising in frustration. I pleaded with the utility company, hoping to prove a point. But what point is there when the funds vanish into thin air? Silence from your end—the void where answers should reside.
Unspoken Betrayal: They say silence speaks volumes. CAC, your silence screamed betrayal. You took back what you had given, leaving me stranded. No explanation, no empathy. The utility bills piled up, mocking my vulnerability.
A Cry for Compassion: I implore you to see beyond paperwork and protocols. Imagine it’s your mother who has departed, your desperation that fuels late-night calls. Extend a hand, not just a promise. Acknowledge the pain etched into my every word.
Ccac, you hold the power to mend hearts or break them further. Choose compassion. For in this broken promise lies not just my story, but the echoes of countless others who seek solace.
