My family had a good experience with child star, my daughter still talks about it and misses her child star school. Towards the end there was some changes/turnover that were concerning to me but otherwise I trusted them to care for my child and she was happy when she was there so that says a lot. Oh and the cook- my daughter misses the food too.

My kids enjoyed the daycare they were happy to go every morning. However, the owner does not have Grace with the parents. My children were there from infancy to toddlers. I was 1 minute late, begged them to allow the kids in because I had to work… They didn’t allow it. I chose to take my kids elsewhere.

I really loved this daycare but towards the end of our time my son started responding negatively as if he didn’t want to go. It seemed like the teachers suddenly were distracted, and at times young and unprofessional. I didn’t appreciate how passive the director was, she came off as assertive but never seemed to have the confidence to address me directly if there was a concern. I was late a few times leaving work and dealing with traffic, and another time during a huge snow storm, and we were kicked out. I understand that you close at five, and that’s not why I’m reviewing. But I worked in a daycare and we never really gave or received this energy if a parent was late. Sounding upset on the phone is not professional. Things HAPPEN. I appreciate the setting, and the healthy meals, but my main concerns were education and safety.

The director is very condescending. I was late to pick my child up a few times and each time the fee for picking him up got higher and higher. The last time I picked him up 26 minutes late because of a misunderstanding between myself and his grandmother, and I was charged $125. I paid the fee, the money was not the issue. The issue was that the owner of the daycare is rude and does not know how to speak to parents, specifically young ones. One of their employees followed me on Facebook, she saw that I was looking for new daycares and I assume she told her boss which is unprofessional to start with. But the most unprofessional thing that happened was that the next day I came in, the director said to me “Oh I thought you was looking for a new daycare, so what you doing”. How unprofessional of you, what type of owner confronts a customer about a question that I posted to MY Facebook? They also would not allow me to feed my child what I wanted him to eat, which is a vegetarian diet. Overall, my experience here was subpar and well below average. Hopefully they find more professional “teachers” and directors.

Integrity noun [U] (HONESTY) the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles that you refuse to change. Business is ran in such a way that everyone walks around timid and afraid for the security of their job. The owners Ms. Lomax and Ms. Dash are very unprofessional, condescending and inappropriate with staff and parent partners. They run this business as they see fit and not necessarily by the rules mandated by the state and federal government. I will be making a report to Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity. Also reporting to Better Business Bureau. Also, will be seeking legal counsel regarding bias and discrimination addressing The Crown Act with this company.
