Childtime of Henrietta

My husband and I went for a tour this past week and we’re not impressed. The outside is dated and not well maintained, so first impression isn’t great. Security was minimal with a locked door and some security monitors. Outside lock by children playing didn’t look safe. Inside the setup is odd and cluttered. Obviously there’s probably a lot going on day to day but things weren’t organized and clean. Toys were all dated like they were found from goodwill or given as a donation. Cleaning supplies mixed in with toys and clutter. Staff seemed kind and nice but they had no clue we were coming for a tour even though their system sent us 4+ reminders of the upcoming tour. After all this my husband and I were unimpressed and thought maybe the price would reflect. Nope, almost the exact same price for nicer, updated and safer facilities nearby. I’m writing this review not to call out the facility but to give parents my honest answer. Look somewhere else.

As a parent who currently goes here it needs to be said! Where does the money go! Constant turn over! Outdated and broken toys! Outdated and dirty building! The review below says it all. Why pay for broken down facility when you can go one street over and pay the same for better, where are all the teachers going? Why are parents not communicated with when teacher depart or class changes hands ? The staff that’s barely holding on seems nice but sooooo much needs to change especially for the price point

I suggest you check out the OCFS website before considering this center. Our personal experience at the Calkins Rd center was disappointing to say the least. The center does not live up to their core values, some staff members are intimidating and even aggressive towards children, complaints are dismissed and never followed up on. The promise of safety, respect, inclusion, positive interactions, and social emotional development was not something we observed and even our 4yo expressed feeling unsupported by the adults in the center.

Sending my daughter here over other places was the best decision I've ever made. I was skeptical at first asking myself, Is this going to be worth the price!? The tuition is just that, tuition. Let's not forget this is a learning center, not just some place to drop your kid(s) off in a mixed age group to play. If you look around at the prices for "similar" places for cheaper, they rapidly shift from a place that teaches your children to a place that just watches your children. I know we all want the best for our kids, so don't settle for less! Everyday I pick my daughter up from Childtime my thoughts are further reinforced that I've made the right decision to send my daughter to a place that truly cares. Not only for her well-being, but also the progress she makes each day. The director and staff are simply the best!
