Teachers admitted to lying to me about my son's day because they do not like to discuss challenges with families. Acted incredulous when I told them I wanted to know what happened, even if it was not positive. A decision was made after 6 days that he could not attend the program with no opportunity to address his behavior as information was not shared proir to this decision. The classroom teacher cut off all communication with me and my son's father at this point, with the full support of the director. I was not offered a refund on my deposit, intended to secure a place for 10 months of attendance. I did not conceal my child's needs, and administration did not request any additional information regarding his needs post enrollment. He had just attended headstart for one full school year with no issue. Teachers take time in the classroom to braid children's hair elaborately, and complain that they are not able to supervise adequately to keep children safe. I watched children hit my child repeatedly with a shovel and the staff were chatting amongst thatselves and did not respond. In the short time my child attended CCP, I saw a teacher lay down a little boy who looked to be 3 on a towel on the bathroom floor and berate him for having had an accident. He was not offered any comfort, or gentle guidance. He was questioned, repeatedly and harshly and the adult stood over him, "Why didn't you come to the bathroom? This is disgusting!" Additionally, there is no diversity curriculum in place. When they take their weekly feildtrip to the park, The teachers shoo children away from children with special needs at the park, instead of modeling acceptance and inclusion. This school states in their handbook that they serve students with special needs, but they define lactose intolerance as a "special need"

This preschool is unlike any other we experienced. Every day my kiddo returns home, she is filled with a wealth of knowledge and fun stories of everything she did during the day. The teachers really care about the children and I have seen each one make a special bond with my child. The directors are active in everything that goes on in the school and really plan for the future and look ahead on how to make the school a great place.

CCP has been a great preschool for my sons. I only feel mildly guilty dropping them off in the morning because I know they're in great hands. The teachers are all very attentive to your individual child's needs and want nothing but to help each of them grow into independent little humans. I recommend CCP to anyone looking for a play-based preschool with a passionate staff - plus your child will love coming here.

We love CCP! Our kiddo has attended CCP for 2 years with one full preschool year left, and we can’t wait for our 2nd to attend when he’s old enough. The teachers are warm, friendly, and know their child development! They really work with the kids and families on child independence and social skills in a positive, supportive environment.

Our daughter attended Coastal Community Preschool for all three years that she was eligible, and she really blossomed during her time there. The staff at CCP are wonderful, and they know how to give your child the individual attention they need and work with their strengths. Student to teacher ratios are extremely low (lower = better)-- approximately half the number of children per teacher than the legal requirement per age group, which was awesome! The pedagogy is play-based and child-centered, which was exactly what we were looking for, even if we didn't know it at first! Each classroom teacher considers what the children as a group are showing interest in and tailor their curriculum around those themes and topics. We ALWAYS felt like our daughter was in the best of care when we dropped her off, and we never worried or second guessed that she should be anywhere else. We sincerely feel that CCP did an excellent job in setting our daughter up for a very successful transition to kindergarten.
