Cottage Playhouse

We love Cottage! Our son has absolutely thrived since starting here. The small class sizes and incredibly caring, attentive teachers create such a warm and supportive environment—it truly feels like an extension of our home. We’ve seen a positive change in our son since he began: he’s more social, more confident, and genuinely looks forward to going every day. Even though we have a full-time nanny for our infant, we felt so strongly about what Cottage offers that we decided it was well worth doubling up on childcare. And we’re already holding a spot for our daughter to join next year! The teachers are simply lovely—compassionate, communicative, and genuinely invested in each child’s development. We always feel in the loop and know our son is in great hands. We couldn’t be happier with our experience. I found out about cottage from a neighbor whose kids went there before they moved to the peninsula, so just thought I’d pass along our family’s experience. :)

Where do I even begin! We LOVE Michelle, Chalena and Cottage Playhouse Community. We were fortunate to have discovered this gem of a preschool/daycare just as there was a spot opening up for a new student. It's very small, so each child receives the absolute best and most attentive care. Dropping our daughter off each morning felt like leaving her with a trusted friend, not at all a transactional experience. Our daughter looked forward to school each day - we never had any tears or sadness, she was always excited to see her friends and "teacher Michelle and Chalena." The teachers clearly and genuinely care about each students success and comfort, and go above and beyond to support parents however they can. The environment is warm, welcoming, fun and clean. They have an amazing outdoor space as well, so the kids spend a lot of time playing outside. Michelle sends photos of the students to parents (I personally loved getting to see what they do during the day) but you can also opt out of having any photos taken of your child. I could go on and on... Our daughter is thriving - we are forever grateful for this wonderful place.

Both my children have attended Cottage Playhouse and I feel so grateful to be a part of this school community. Michelle and Chalena are kind, gentle, patient and nurturing teachers who have genuine care for every child. With only 12 students they foster a very close and cooperative culture with a strong focus on social-emotional skills. My children have very different personalities (one outgoing and energetic, one cautious and reserved) and both loved cottage and made great friends while there. For a small school there is lots of enrichment too! There is professional grade playground equipment onsite (and well shaded), they do arts and crafts almost every day, and specialist teachers come weekly for dance and music classes. My daughter loves showing me what she made at school every day! Michelle is a very special and natural teacher. The transition to care is always difficult and she gives each child so much love and support. Even though we have moved out of the neighborhood my daughter still attends cottage as I feel strongly that it is the best place for her.

Words cannot describe how perfectly amazing this place is. It checked ALL the boxes for what we were looking for for our son! He started last July. 2024, when he turned 2, and now, on the cusp of 3 has developed so much! Michelle ( owner and teacher) and Chalena are AMAZING! The most kind hearted individuals and care takers. Look no further. ( we toured a number of places around this area and Cottage was a referral from a friend whose son - now 17!) went there. ) This place is also the cutest and safest set up- kids will be under a watchful eye at all times 🙏🏼 Thank you Michelle and Chalena. You both are the best!

Both of our children attended The Cottage and we are so grateful for Michelle and all she offers young children at this early stage of life. I will be forever thankful our children got to have such a wonderful experience.
