Dioji K-9 Resort & Athletic Club

I’ve visited my fair share of doggy daycares, and my personal must-haves are always: a clean facility, caring staff, and a doggy report card. Webcams accessible to pet parents are also a big plus. Out of all the daycares I’ve tried, Dioji ranks in my top 5. They’ve taken great care of my fur-baby, and the added bonus of a pool is a huge win! On my very first visit, during the tour, the staff member mentioned, “We send pictures daily and try to focus more on boarders because we know being away from your fur-baby is hard.” That stuck with me and helped me feel comfortable leaving my pup in their care. However, I will say that the photos and report cards have become a bit inconsistent lately. Sometimes I receive a detailed report with several pictures, and other times it’s a brief, generic update—or no pictures at all. I’ve even gotten the same cookie-cutter comments on back-to-back days, which feels a little impersonal. It’s especially disappointing that if you drop your dog off in the morning for boarding, you won’t receive any update or photo for that first day. That said, as a self-admitted crazy dog mom, I’ll continue bringing my pup to Dioji because she truly seems to enjoy her time there and I do feel confident in the care she’s receiving. I just hope they work on making the communication and updates more consistent—especially for boarding stays.

My big Baby sometimes has trouble with other dogs and also gets irritable in the heat. We travel and were at a loss what to do with her when we travel. Well Dioji of Oxnard solved that! Now Baby gets her own private suite, private playtime and has lots of fun playing with the staff! They also send a report card with photos every day!! We call it camp for her! Thank goodness we found this place!

From the outside, this facility looks like a dog's paradise, and the front desk staff were very friendly. However, our experience was disappointing. During our initial tour, the dogs seemed disengaged and unhappy, and staff appeared to be more like passive supervisors than active caregivers. Despite this, we proceeded with the assessment, hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, it was worse. The staff member conducting the assessment seemed uncomfortable handling my German Shepherd, who is friendly and well-socialized. I expected a thorough evaluation with us present, but instead, he was taken away and we were told we could watch from the outside fence. I saw them introduce my dog to a huge group of unfamiliar dogs without a proper transition. As anyone familiar with dog behavior knows, this can cause stress and conflict. The group of dogs proceeded to go after my dog and try and corner him. My dog was anxious but never aggressive--yet the staff claimed he "bit" them, despite there being no marks and it clearly being a warning nip under stress. Overall, the staff did not demonstrate the knowledge or confidence needed to handle dogs properly. I wouldn't recommend this facility. For a more competent, caring, and affordable option, I highly recommend Doggin' Around--they treated my dog wonderfully and he thrived during his assessment. Their team was professional, kind, and my dog loved it there.

Our Luz loves coming to Dioji in Oxnard for a full day of fun with all the great staff. She especially loves swimming in the bone shaped pool, hanging out and napping on all the different play structures. Their selection of treats is also great! We love taking advantage of the freebies offered with the purchase of daycare packages. Definitely recommend Dioji in Oxnard, all of the staff are friendly and attentive. We appreciate the daily updates on behavior and look forward to the pictures posted to her report card.

My dog LOVES dioji. We have been coming for almost 2 years now. My dog has been coming since he was 16 weeks old. I always feel like I'm dropping him off to family with the way the staff and my dog treat each other. It's the best.
