This church is such a gift to our family. The members are warm and welcoming, the sermons are biblical, heartfelt, and clearly carefully and thoughtfully prepared. The worship music is a great mix of contemporary and classic hymnody, and it is done beautifully.
The motto is “beholding Christ and becoming like him,” and that is evident and the clear aim in the entirety of the service, the children’s ministry, the youth ministry, the women’s ministry, the men’s ministry, the young adult ministry, etc.
This church loves each other and visitors as if they were long-lost family members.
10/10 would recommend!

Music and message was good. My 1st visit was unimpressive. The appearance of most there was they were satisfied. I was not greeted before or after the service. The message was well prepared and rehearsed. The pastor clung onto his pulpit as though fearful of exposing himself to his congregation. I have visited 4 other churches in Hickory and had hoped 1st Baptist would be where I could settle in as a faithful member. Apparently my hopes were misplaced.

This is the only church where I have felt welcome in a long time. The members are awesome and actually remember who you are. The youth group is amazing and has been the only youth group where my daughter has felt happy and was excited to attend the following week. We actually feel valued here, and that's an amazing feeling!

Went to the Hickory Choral Society late spring concert. Church is beautiful inside and music was very exceptional as usual.

I see extremely positive reviews for this church. The location is perfect to keep families right there in the middle of downtown Hickory.
