First Steps Academy

Both our girls have enjoyed their time at this daycare. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to make your child’s day full of fun and learning. One of our girls had a medical emergency while at childcare and we are so thankful for how quickly they reacted to get her the care she needed.

We love our first steps family. We have been there for over 8 years and have always had great staff who truly care about our kiddos. We have made some Ling term friends along the way. My kiddos love seeing their teachers. They activities that they do outside of normal hours really makes it seem more like a family rather than a normal child care setting.

We have been First Steps clients for over 6 years and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. In that time we’ve had kids in every building/location at some point or another and have had a positive experience the entire time. Nearly every day our kids have been excited to go to ‘school’ and excited to tell us what a great day they had when we pick them up. Every time we walk in the building, we are greeted with friendly smiles from the staff. The teachers frequently give the kids a hug in the morning to let them know they are welcome. Even the cook stops to greet us and say hello to the kids, often with a high-five! The directors make a point to get to know every child personally and occasionally still ask about our 1st Grader who ‘graduated’ over a year ago. In addition to making friends and having fun over these last 6 years, our kids have learned a lot through First Steps’ early learning and more formal preschool program. They were doing crafts and art projects as infants, and later learned to write their names, learned all the letters and numbers, and participate in frequent science projects. When one of our children struggled with emotional development, the director encouraged and helped us get connected with the public school system to ensure our son had the help he needed, not only in Preschool, but also on day one in Kindergarten. Had this not happened, Kindergarten would have certainly been a lot harder and we’d still be catching up in 1st Grade. Every child care center has rules and policies. These are necessary to keep the kids healthy and safe. But First Steps does their best to keep the annoying ones to a minimum. For example, there isn’t a daily limit on how many hours your child can be in their care, just open and close hours. First Steps also has a very inclusive package with tuition. All food is included, even formula if you are happy with the brand they offer. They even provide baby wipes and sunscreen! I can’t say how great it has been to simply get our kids dressed in the morning with no other preparation required before taking them to school every day.

We have had both our kids at all 3 First Steps locations in Rochester since 6 weeks old. Our daughter was in care until 7 years of age and son until 2. We had to move and changed our care. The staff are caring, hard working and like what they do. This begins from management all the way to the caring aides. Thank you and keep up the amazing work!

We switched from another care center to First Steps almost a year ago and couldn't be happier! The staff are friendly, my children love the food, and they have excellent activities to keep the kids engaged.
