Granny Teresa Nursery School

If you’re looking for a nursery school that feels like family, Granny Teresa’s is it. We’ve had both of our kids there from 9 months to 3 years old, and I can honestly say it’s been a magical experience. The head teacher, Mayza, is exceptional — kind, loving, and incredibly intentional in how she shapes the space and curriculum to nurture the kids’ intellectual, physical, and social development. There is a wonderful indoor area full of activities as well as a fantastic yard where my daughter loves to play in the sand and my son loved to search for worms or pick tomato’s. A couple of special perks? For one, the meals! They cook such yummy, healthy food that I had to ask for the recipes. A second one, receiving pictures of my kids so I can keep up with what they’re doing and see first hand all of the amazing experiences they have there. But really, the heart of Granny Teresa’s is the teachers. They show up every day with so much joy and energy, and you can feel it. My children are happy, supported, and curious everyday at school. The foundation they’ve given my son helped him transition seamlessly into a bigger school with such grace and confidence. If we had more kids, they’d be there in a heartbeat. We love and trust this school deeply, and I can’t recommend it enough for other parents.

Granny Teresa’s Nursery School has it all!! Our daughter flourished and blossomed wonderfully during her two years. Mayza is one of the most loving teachers I’ve ever experienced. Her care always allowed me to drive away with ease, knowing my daughter was very well taken care of. Mayza does so many fun and educational activities with the children. She provides nourishing homemade meals, cooks with the kids, does tons of art, singing, yoga, meditation, nature walks and the list goes on. Her space she has designed and created is beautiful and feels so full of love and happiness. She definitely goes above and beyond at providing a nurturing, safe, loving and fun environment.

Our daughter had the most amazing experience at Granny Teresa Nursery school. Both the outdoor and indoor spaces are filled with wonder and are better kept than any nursery school/ daycare we’ve used in the past and/or visited. From the magical village built into the tree outside and the calming colors + wood materials used inside to the present nature of the teachers, I found this nursery school brought out my daughter’s curiosity and confidence while grounding her in natural beauty, art, baking, exploring and of course play. My favorite part: the teachers all show up day in and day out with joy and presence. Throughout our time there, I never once felt anyone was burned out or exhausted by the children. Even though by the end of the day, I’m sure they were. They do an amazing job of showing up for the kids with consistency. You can tell Mayza loves her work and the children. She runs her school with dedication and great pride. Mayza has an amazing way of engaging the children such that I’ve never arrived to chaos. Just busy happy children exploring in their own ways. Huge bonus: Mayza’s food is heavenly. Everyone there seems to eat it up without question. As parents, it is such a gift to not have to prep any food for school. She handles both snacks and meals and exposes kids to healthy option that they’re all excited to try together her. Again, Mayza has a way with children that is very special. I can not recommend this place enough!

Our son just celebrated his graduation from Granny Teresa Nursery School and our family is so emotional reflecting on our son's journey in Mayza's program starting from 9/10 months old. Granny Teresa's has been our son's second home for over 2 years. Our son was always safe, protected, and nurtured in Mayza's care. We never once doubted this, which is a true gift as a parent. Our son was given the space to thrive and develop self-confidence and a deep curiosity of his environment during his time in Mayza's program. Mayza and the other teachers truly inspire each child's unique self. Mayza cooks homemade meals for the children for breakfast, lunch, and snacks every day. The care she takes into making these healthy meals for the children is truly remarkable. My son LOVES Mayza's food, especially her special cheese bread, rice and beans, and soups! There are so many wonderful things I can say about Mayza and her program but my husband and I constantly remark that the best decision we have made for our son is placing him in Mayza's care. Mayza and her family have become family to us and the community Mayza has built and continues to build is beautiful and inspiring. Any child would be so incredibly lucky to spend time in Mayza's program because she has such a unique gift with children (and continues to educate herself with evening courses despite taking care of the children daily!). She understands children deeply and lifts them up in every way you can imagine. We are so grateful for the joy, positivity, peace, and love Mayza and her team have brought to our son and our family. We will remember this special time forever!

My family and I were so lucky that our son got to be cared by Mayza and her assistants at Granny Teresa Nursery School. My son experienced a safe, loving and nurturing environment while being able to be himself, connect with peers, spend time outdoors and have wonderful meals. The daily updates with pictures helped us to know about his daily development and to feel connected throughout the day. I highly recommend Granny Teresa to any family that is hoping to find a daycare that promotes socio-emotional development and that feels like an extension of your home.
