Horizon Child Development Center

We really love this outfit. The teachers stick around and are great with our kiddo. Tammy and Sonya do a wonderful job running the front of house and are flexible to work with. Daycare can be a bit of a blasted land out there and this place is an oasis.

My wife and I absolutely loved having our son at Horizon. As our son graduated from room to room, it was clear that every teacher that he interacted with cared for him and we saw that reflected in his behaviour as well. Once he was walking, he would regularly walk in confidently in the morning and take a teachers (or the Director's) hand and walk back to his room. It was a joy to watch our son grow during his time at the school. We would have kept him enrolled if only it had made sense logistically after we moved into a bigger home. We found the front office staff incredibly friendly and very helpful whenever we reached out (Shout outs to Tammy and Sonia!) Whenever we had questions or concerns, they were always understanding and forthcoming with any information they might have. It was also really encouraging to see the relationships they had built with some students who had been there over the years, and even with others who had entered the public school system, but came back with their parents to pick up younger siblings. On top of all of this, from our market research on daycares in the nearby area, you cannot beat Horizon's price point. The closest competitor that we found was a good 25% more expensive for what we perceived to be little to no additional benefit. I'm trying not to ramble on too much in this review, but I can't say enough good things about Horizon in Fairfax and the people who work there. We loved it so much, my wife and I cried after we picked our son up at the end of his last day there. We are so thankful we chose Horizon.

We recently moved away from Fairfax, and although we love my daughter’s new daycare, we can’t help but miss HCDC. Miss Sonia, Miss Tammy, Ms. Stacey, Ms Wendy, Ms. Lorena, and more, were all an integral part in our daughter’s upbringing. HCDC was our “village” and we couldn’t be more thankful for that experience. My daughter was always well taken care of, learned new things, grew socially and intellectually, and just overall had a fantastic experience. I highly recommend HCDC!!

The teachers and staff enthusiastically greet children by their names. Our 5 year old granddaughter has been there since she was an infant and has consistently enjoyed learning so much including beginning writing, reading, math, health, nutrition, social emotional skills, singing, yoga, crafts, and lots more. Other examples include field trips to nature centers and high school holiday performances. I could go on n on to include the students’ holiday performance, Halloween celebration which includes a children’s parade as well as trunk or treat. There are also age specific activities that may include a magic show, optional events, and more. Can’t say or write enough about the quality of the care provided by Horizon. I believe that Horizon has provided our granddaughter with the experiences to be fully prepared to transition into today’s kindergarten environment for fall 2024.

We really miss Horizon; we recently moved farther away & were so sad to leave. Our daughter had attended here for 3.5 years since she was a baby. From Ms. Nadia to Ms. Celia to Tammy and Stacey & many others there who work so hard, they love on the kids and you know your kids are in good hands during the day. This daycare isn't part of a national franchise so that sets it apart, too; it's more family like and flexible. Mrs. Jackson does a great job running this center, and we would highly recommend it. Great location in Fairfax.
