Just Like Home Childcare

My child had been in daycare since he was 10 months old. He is now three. We had him in a particular daycare for two years before changing to Just Like Home. We wanted to make a change for lower children to teacher ratio, more consistency with teachers, and better communication between teachers/managers and myself. While we got all of these qualities we were looking for, unfortunately this place is not for a child that has high energy or does not thrive in high structured environments. I will preface that he never had any behavioral concerns from his previous daycare of two years. My son is a free spirit, high energy, and head strong (like most boys but yes slightly more energetic than your average toddler). Because he did not fit into the mold of this classroom, we only lasted a couple of months at this daycare. We felt as if this daycare had pegged my son as "troubled" from the first week he was there because he did not fit into the preferred structure of what this classroom was used to nor were they giving him much of a chance to adjust to this new environment. I do think this is a good daycare and has very great qualities. I do not want another family that has a more rambunctious, challenging, or high energy child to feel as we felt when we were at daycare there.

Workers are treated terribly here, if your child has a good teacher they won't be there for long. High turnover rate. Multiple DHS cases in 2 months. Kelly (owner/manager) refuses to provide a private space for nursing for her employees and doesn't allow them to use accrued PTO because she "doesn't have the money". Don't work here, don't send your kids here, don't waste your money here!!!

This place is just magical. Kelly the owner is simply wonderful. Not only is she is present each day at the school, she runs a great business and simply hires the best staff. This daycare has that small town feel such as when you walk in, every staff member knows your child's name and greets your kiddo/you. It was worth it for us to drive across town. We have said that having our son go here was an answered prayer. The teachers were patient, worked with our son and his special needs (speech delays/receptive delays). And they were so kind/helpful to his speech and OT therapists when they came once a week to work with him. He showed up not speaking much, not really engaging much with other kids to talking more, having friends and following classroom directions. This place set him up for Kindergarten. It is pretty undescribable to see how much our son blossomed here and we can't thank Just Like Home East enough. The best part is he that he truly loved it there and still asks to this day to go back. We will forever be grateful for the entire staff.

If you know anyone who has a kid in this place, tell them to get them out now. they are abusive to children and the owner\manager is indifferent. Demand to see videos that have been archived. This is for the Mission Ave location. The parents need to know the truth. Watch your kid on live video feed ALL DAY or record and review when you can. Not a good place.

Just Like Home is true to its name. The staff at the center treat the children with love and respect. All of the teachers have impressive expertise, patience, and put a lot of care into what they do. When I say everyone is amazing, I mean it! They think of big ways to celebrate the children (from holding center-wide celebrations, holiday events, and pre-K graduations) as well as small ways to make you and your child feel cared for (washing baby bottles, cleaning bed sheets). My kids have gone to not great daycares, mediocre daycare, and great daycares. So believe me when I say that Just Like Home is exceptional.
