La Petite Academy on Highgate Drive

The new acting director or assistant director, Renee Garland, is disrespectful, and unprofessional. On February 5, 2025, she spoke to me as if I were a child, in front of a parent, and others about a personal matter that should not have been discussed in front of anyone else, and was do loud that the entire school heard her. I have tried reaching the head office or whoever is in charge of Rachel Perry, but it seems I was given the wrong email address every time I tried.

if you don't care and just need someone to watch your child then send them there. but this place is not good. I witnessed one of the teachers push several toddlers and they cried. her attitude was very stand offish like she didn't even like kids. I let the administrators know and they basically told me she was just playing with the kids. if you send your kid here WATCH THE CAMERAS when you can. it's just very ghetto.. the toys aren't cleaned/sanitized.. there's always sick babies.. every week there's a notice going home about a sick child. I told them my daughter had a dairy allergy and no one took it seriously until she broke out in hives. they were still giving her milk up until then. the organization is lacking and they don't have qualified staff for the toddler room. there was two teachers that are okay..Ms Brittany and Ms Yasmeen but they have different ladies in and out throughout the day and it's just not good. some of them look like they were just dragged in off the street and are there to just watch your kids. idk if these people were actually certified to be with kids. ive heard them complaining about being there. if u have no other choice..try it.. but if you do have choices don't send your child here unless they're able to verbalize things and let you know if they're being mistreated.

I'm thankful and grateful to have found such a safe, caring and wonderful daycare where my infant daughter is treated as seen as one of theirs and I love the constantly updated Brightwheel app notification on how she is doing. The Director Renee is very sharp and caring and always reminds me of the important events and concerns that she notices and Teacher Amber is absolutely amazing and my daughter loves being with her. We looked at a bunch of places all throughout Durham and this La Petite was the only place where everyone cared and was extra clean and transparent.

I picked up my daughter today from school. She was outside playing in 40° weather with her jacket Unzipped. Her shoes were on the wrong feet. We are home and I put her on the potty and she has no underwear on. They said they sent us a message about her Not having anymore potty training pants. But I found 2 when I picked her up. And they provide pull-ups and diapers. So I don't understand.

So thankful for La Petite and the staff! The location is perfect as it’s close to our home. The hours fit our family’s schedule so we don’t have to rush to pick up our little one! The entire staff is friendly, loving and professional! The director and all of the teachers feel like family! The care and attention that they give our child and the all of the children gives our family the assurance we need to know our child is in the BEST care! I LOVE how the center sends us pictures of our child throughout the day so we can see what’s going on! The daily schedule updates are helpful! Looking for the BEST childcare in Durham, La Petite Academy is IT!
