We’ve had a great experience at LCNS (AKA The Little Red Schoolhouse)! My 3 year old started there last January as soon as he was pretty much potty trained. The teachers there are excellent, very patient and kind. How do I know? Because I get to go to school with my son about once a month as the parent volunteer (part of the coop duties). FYI any member of your family, grandma/grandpa, even a friend or neighbor can be a classroom volunteer as long as they fill out the forms, pass a background check and a TB test. I go when I can get off work, my mom goes other times and my husband has been able to go a couple times too. My brother might volunteer this year too just for the fun of it and to learn from the teachers the best ways to deal with common toddler issues. I was worried before we joined that the coop duties would be too much to handle but they are really not bad - in fact it makes us feel more connected to the school community and I feel good knowing what goes on in the classroom. We looked at a lot of different preschools before settling on LCNS including Montessori and Waldorf programs. The curriculum at LCNS incorporates a lot of aspects we liked about those other programs, like lots of unstructured outdoor time including a vegetable garden, learning through play, dancing and music. I also like that the kids get to choose their own activities from several options set out for them, which allows them some independence. All in all, great teachers and really affordable prices (even some scholarships available). Definitely recommend!
