Our Beginning School, Ballard/Fremont

We feel fortunate to have discovered Our Beginning for our little one. OB is a truly nurturing environment where children flourish. The teachers provide genuine individualized attention to each child, and we've been particularly impressed by Teachers Marie, Helena, and Mayte, who have made our son feel completely at home. The teaching team's communication is exceptional. Through detailed updates and family conferences, they share meaningful insights about our child's development. They offer valuable resources and guidance for navigating developmental stages while carefully monitoring progress. Adding to these strengths, OB provides excellent organic meals prepared from scratch daily. We couldn't have found a better place for our son to grow and thrive.

Our child has been at OB for a year and is thriving. The teachers and staff are incredibly caring and attentive, and it’s clear they truly love what they do. Our child is always excited to go and has grown so much emotionally and socially in their care. We also really appreciate their approach to food—all meals are organic and plant-based - the kids are very well fed! Teacher turnover is an industry-wide problem, but we’ve been lucky enough to have great teachers with long tenure at the center. Overall, the environment is safe, nurturing, and well-maintained. We’ve loved meeting other families and creating community with OB.

The meals are great and the teachers genuinely care about the children. There has been high turnover at times, which is representative of the industry, but we've been fortunate to have a stable classroom and teacher for a while now. Claudia has been absolutely amazing and greatly helped in our child's development on a number of fronts - language, toilet training, expressiveness, sharing, counting, etc. - everything a toddler should be learning. She's a wonderful teacher and our child adores her.

I have a child who has been in our beginning from 10month-2yr approx, in butterfly and orca rooms. Teachers Marie, Helena and Mayte have show him so much love and provided amazing care. Teachers from other classrooms also are very sweet with him. The food is amazing, teachers take the kids on little trips around the neighborhood. Admin are good communicators. Staff have provided good care when he got injured.

Our daughter has been at OB for a year and a half, and we’ve had a great experience there. The teachers are highly engaged, knowledgeable about my kid’s development stages and how to support her through them (plus there are specialized staff who work across all the classrooms to support students and develop curriculum), and we love that she gets a variety of activities ona regular weekly schedule including art, “cooking” class, music, and both focused and free play time outside. The teachers use iPads to take photos and provide parents with updates throughout the day— both fun for us, and good to know we can always get ahold of them if need be. I rest easy knowing my daughter loves her teachers and is getting such great care from everyone there.
