I think it's good. We like the children's program and they have great discipleship for grownups too. Both kinds of worship for contemporary and for traditional and they have a new service time where everyone can go to Sunday school at 10 but also attend either an early or a late worship service. Good community outreach as well as national and global concerns too. I think Abilene in general is just a little cliquish because it's a small or medium small city. So don't worry about those other reviews but come check it out for yourself.

So I just left pioneer Baptist church and I got turned away because I was riding in the same car with someone else so I couldn't receive help. Some folks don't have transportation I know I don't. I drove from Merkel Texas to receive some food. I am indigent my water is cut off and I am really struggling. The people that work there are extremely rude and I consider a bunch of hypocrites .to turn someone away that needs help desperately . That's not very Christian like. The Bible distinctively says to help your neighbor and to let no man go hungry. I would never even associate with people who have no heart for others. And he was smiling the whole time while denying people. Some people are really hungry I would feed them. I give them a very bad review . The bad thing as well is it's first 20 people there will receive help and there was only 3 people in line My 2 friends and myself. Very selfish rude hateful people.

Itβs a large church but it feels like family. You get to know the families you sit near every week and join classes and activities. People are very friendly and helpful.

I had visited years ago, so this was not a first-time visit.
I went to the welcome center first & stood at the desk to ask questions, but the folks were engaged in talking to friends, I guess. I picked up some literature, and went on to the sanctaury. The service was all right, but the music was far too loud. They have a good-sized little orchestra, & I guess they had it all mic'd; the building is too small for the volume. I could not hear my own voice, nor those around me, nor the choir. Just blaring horns & clashing cymbals. I thought a lot about I Cor. 13. My ears hurt. My heart hurt. I was so distracted, I could neither focus on worship, nor the message.
I am sure it is a wonderful place--I hear good things about it. It was just too loud.

The child development center has a horrible unclear non- refundable place holding policy for new enrollment . We paid 1/2 monthly tuition throughout the summer, but we decided not to use them and for our infant to stay with a family member. Upon notifying them of this, the business manager, Tanner, was unwilling to make any refunds, even partial. We basically have approximately $650 gone that Pioneer is just keeping for themselves.
Childcare is limited in town, and all reputable locations have a waiting list. Paying a tuition deposit that is not refundable just to have your name on a waiting list is not a fair business practice, especially from a church. Not to mention, the individual I spoke with was quite rude. For those of you considering them, BEWARE.
