The Academy for Active Learners

We’ve been bringing our daughter to The Academy for Active Learners since she was just 3 months old (she’s now 13 months), and we truly couldn’t imagine a better place for her to grow and thrive. From day one, the teachers have been incredibly kind, attentive, and thoughtful—they treat each child with so much care and respect. The classrooms are always clean, bright, and welcoming, and the programs they run are both fun and developmentally enriching. Our daughter absolutely loves going each day—her smile at drop-off says it all! We’re so grateful for the warm, nurturing environment they’ve created. Highly recommend to any family looking for a daycare that truly goes above and beyond.

We are beyond lucky to have our son at The Academy for Active Learners. We have been with them for the past year and a half, and it was the best childcare decision we could have made. You know your child is well cared for when they run across the parking lot and into a teacher’s arms each morning without looking back. Every staff member that we have been in contact with is kind and patient. The building is always spotless, and the weekly curriculum is creative and engaging. Truly the best in town!

We have had two children attend the Academy over the last several years. The care we receive there has been wonderful, from the infant room all the way up to pre-k. Some of our friends raved about the wonderful care their children experienced from a young age at the academy (thanks to Steph and Sue in the infant room) and as soon as our first child started there we saw it firsthand as well. The facility is new and very well maintained. They have a very large outdoor playground in the back and an indoor playground inside (the gym) that the kids love, especially during the long maine winter. The owner was very responsive when we were on the wait list. Tuition prices there are fair and the curriculum is year round; no extra session/charges /application for a summer session. One of the other things we love about the academy is that the facility includes real working parent hours. They don’t nickel and dime you when you are a parent that has to drop off a child before you go to work and pick up a child after a normal work day ends. One other convenient thing about the academy is that they offer a meal plan for an extra charge. Overall we would recommend this day care to anyone. In a world where quality, affordable child care is hard to find, we can’t say enough great things about the Academy.

My daughter has been attending the Academy for Active Learners since she was just over a year old and now she is moving onto kindergarten. The staff are very sweet and supportive. The communication between parents and teachers is always welcomed. The teachers are very patient with children and attentive to their needs. Mindy is very responsive and is very involved. My daughter has autism so Mindy and the staff at Academy for Active Learners has been working closely with her IEP team over the past few years. The collaboration between these two teams has been wonderful and my daughter has thrived because of it. We have been so lucky to have such a wonderful and safe place for our daughter to go to while we are at work. We are going to miss the staff there!

We moved here from out of state and everyone here made the transition to a new school and new state sooo easy for our kiddos! The teachers were so attentive to their needs and kept us updated on everything. They go outside so much which is amazing for our kids! My daughter had some anxiety spells and they helped us navigate that and get some extra support that has helped tremendously. Mindy, the director keeps everything clean, fun, and safe! The kids especially love the ice cream truck that comes in the summer for a special treat! Can't say enough good things about our experience here.
