Tierra Encantada- Rochester

Our daughter has been going to TE for almost two years and really enjoys its - the best part is the loving teachers who care for her like she is their own. If you don't speak Spanish the language barrier can be a bit of a challenge, but it's worth it for the language exposure for my daughter. You do not receive virtual/email updates or photos like other daycares, but I do appreciate the lack of screens and the focus on play and learning. Overall, it's been a great fit for our daughter and our family!

Very caring teachers/providers. My daughter has bonded with all of her teachers. Unfortunately as with most daycare centers there is somewhat frequent turnover. We love the Spanish immersion, our daughter has been learning Spanish and will sing songs, count and recite the ABCs in Spanish. It's a great start if you plan on sending them to Spanish immersion school.

We absolutely adore Tierra Encantada!! Cannot recommend them enough. Our child is happy, healthy and so well taken care of! The curriculum and activities are phenomenal for every age, even infants!! We love the staff so much, you can tell they truly care for your child.

We've been part of the Tierra Encantada family here in Rochester for three years—our first started at 8 months old in 2022, and our second at 4 months in 2024. Now they’re in preschool and toddler classrooms, and we've been so grateful knowing that our girls are well taken care of and feel loved. The teachers are nurturing and patient. At drop off almost every morning, our girls smile and reach their arms out for their teachers. The Spanish immersion experience has been great—my husband is near fluent, and I'm re-learning alongside our girls. Our daughters’ first words were in Spanish ("agua" and "más"). Their days are filled with enriching activities, healthy meals, and lots of active play at the indoor playground and outside. And while it seems that a lot of other franchised daycare centers have a lot of turnover, our girls are lucky to have had many of their teachers stay at TE, so they still see their former classroom teachers on a daily basis. For us, the only downside has been the cost. I'd recommend this place to every parent I know.

Enrolled 8 months prior to my infant’s arrival, after paying a deposit I never received a single email or communication with updates from this facility. Drop off time was changed to a later time without notice and without change in cost of childcare for the reduced hours. I tried calling office staff for an update when I learned of this change on a Friday morning. I left one voicemail and later called back and spoke with someone who spoke very little English who took a message. I did not get a call back until Monday afternoon. Despite a phone call and an email, it has been 48 hours and nobody has confirmed my withdrawal from this care center, confirmed cancellation of auto-pay, or given me a definitive answer on my request for a deposit refund secondary to the change in hours without notice/effective communication. I am so glad that I will not be sending my child here. This facility is clearly experiencing significant issues with staff turnover and competency. Update: It took 48 hours to get an email link to formally request to withdraw from this facility. Tierra Encantada has refused to refund my deposit despite the reason that I can no longer attend their facility is because they changed their hours. Response to the comments from Tierra Encantada: A handbook with the updated time was NOT provided until I reached out questioning the time change. Also, an additional fee for a somewhat earlier drop off time is not acceptable as a change from the agreed upon contract. My child’s current daycare provides regular updates to parents, answers phone calls, and responds quickly to messages. Also, they have fewer staff holidays and had a far more reasonable deposit. I know my child is safe in their care. I cannot say the same for my experience with Tierra. Also, still no refund from Tierra, but at least this post has now been viewed over 500 times.
