Village Montessori Academy

As a speech-language pathologist who provides services within this school, I continue to be impressed by the calm, serene atmosphere that surrounds even the youngest learners. It’s truly remarkable to see preschool-aged children navigating their environment with such independence and purpose. Children move confidently and respectfully between activities, engaging in hands-on, creative learning that supports both their academic and personal growth. The environment is thoughtfully prepared, allowing students to explore and make choices while staying grounded in structure and routine. The staff is incredibly supportive and collaborative, and it’s clear that the Montessori approach nurtures the whole child—cognitively, socially, and emotionally.

My daughter attended age 4-5. She rapidly learned new skills such as improvements in writing/drawing, reading, numbers, geography. In addition to learning it was evident she was encouraged and empowered by her teachers and fellow students. This led to her actively working toward enacting and finding ways to build upon these new skill sets.

Enrolling our daughter in VMA was the best decision we’ve ever made. Before we found VMA, our three-year old was surviving in a typical daycare but not thriving by any means. However at VMA she is growing, learning, and thriving as I wish every child could. The Montessori methods and routines give our child room to explore while instilling in her a love for learning. The teachers are skilled, nurturing and plan novel activities for the children constantly. Just this week the kids took part in every step to host a tea party from preparing the food to creating the menus to escorting the parents to our seat. The community we’ve made here at VMA is irreplaceable and I am so grateful a school like this exists for children in Bon Air.

I am so grateful for my daughter's time at Village Montessori Academy. It is a small school nestled in a (magical) wooded garden where the kids can play every day. The teachers are kind, strong educators who are passionate about Montessori. I fell in love with the Montessori approach to teaching and learning, especially related to literacy. My daughter’s favorite lessons were sewing and geography.
