I recently participated in a certification course at the Westside YMCA and was disappointed by how inconsistently the program was managed. It was clear that not all participants were held to the same standards— some were given flexibility on deadlines or requirements, while others were not. It felt as though the rules were applied selectively rather than fairly.
There also seemed to be a breakdown in communication between leadership (executive director) and instructors, which created confusion around expectations and decision-making. When I respectfully raised these concerns in writing, I was issued a refund without my consent-instead of being offered the opportunity to complete the course at a later date, as the original course policy allowed. That decision made it feel like I was being quietly removed, not supported.
I followed up again to clarify discrepancies and express my willingness to complete the training-but received no response at all. That silence was especially disappointing and made the entire experience feel dismissive and unprofessional.
For a program focused on preparing people for serious, safety-critical roles, I expected a much higher standard of fairness, communication, and accountability.

Great facility. Clean. Easy to navigate. Great amenities. Play area is awesome. Child care closes at 7, which differs from my normal YMCA on long pond which closes at 8- (didn't like that but it also wasn't busy so makes sense if it goes by demand of the area).
The suana doesn't have levels (my husband goes) which can change the experience if you are an avid suana user. (Long pond has three levels you can sit).
Other then that it was great experience. Pool area is great also, especially for family time swimming.
We have been going here since our YMCA on long pond is closed to have maintenance to their pool area. Once our YMCA opens we will prolly continue to occasionally visit this new one we discovered. Great first couple experiences overall ! 😀

My son and I enjoy the YMCA. However, for how much it costs the hours are not great. I wish it was open until 9 on Saturday and Sunday. Also on Friday there is no drop off at the adventure center. It is family time. This is super annoying to many people hoping to get a workout in and end up having to stay with the kids in the adventure center. Otherwise it’s a great Y.

I've been a member for almost a year and love it here.
Some feedback: The gym could really use more stair climbers. Of the four, one has been waiting on a part for almost the whole time I've belonged and a second machine is often down temporarily. I suggest adding four new ones and keeping the old ones if it's a pain to get the parts replaced and some will always be out of order. In terms of freeing up space, I've never seen all of any other kind of aerobic machine being used, but the stair climbers are all taken quite frequently.
