It’s ok, but have been a member of other YMCAs with better layout and services. It’suffices for basic weight training and cardio equipment, but it’s not a place I get excited to go to to work out, to be honest. The Forest Avenue location has kind staff, and it’s generally cleaned well. The Freeport location is very kid oriented to a point where as a paying adult it makes the services/times limited and inconvenient (ie use pool, classes). Neither is a place for regular/consistent adult (mid-age) classes (ie yoga).

Signing up for a membership was a pain. I had to prompt information from the receptionist by asking many questions, often wording the same question many ways. Oh but she's very friendly and helpful to other people who look like her! Although I got my membership the Friday before, they failed to tell me they're closed the week of June 10-17. I hope once I start going there's a higher quality of services but so far it's been inconvenient and I've never felt so unwelcome.

I was visiting Portland and this YMCA was a 5 minute walk for me. I visited at 7-8am on weekdays for the cardio and gym room. Mostly empty at these times and the staff was extremely friendly. The equipment was pretty good for the price, had all the essential machines with squat and bench rack. One time visit was $12.

The "Y" is amazing, from gym facilities, to basketball courts, to swimming pools - and all in between - plus special programs for kids.. And also providing housing - it is truly a blessing to have such a well-rounded community in my back yard. The staff (especially Ray) is right on point - they do a fantastic job making all the moving pieces work. Keep up the great work!

Grubby little place. Like the older days. Nothing special to look at but the staff are exceptionally nice. Exemplar, lovely young people mostly.....They make me smile. Machines are fine, swimming pool, sauna and steam room. That's nice to have available. Water pressure in showers could be better. C'est La Vie.
